This site celebrates the life of Alan 'Tarpy' Layton. Born in Kyogle, New South Wales on 22nd February 1930, died 11 August 1986 in Ballina, New South Wales, Australia.
So, it has now been 21 years since Dad died. I was just thinking today about how much we have all done and achieved in that time, and I think Dad would be proud of us all, and I am sure he would love Lucy.
Alan certainly would be amazed to see what his three children have done and become. As for how he would have loved Lucy, well - he would have been over the moon. So, GrannyPenny will have to give her double the love to make up for her Aussie Grandpop no longer being with us. That won't be hard, of course.
My fondest memories of Tarpy are him running along shelly beach with a fag in his mouth trying to keep up with me...the way he used to rev the "little blue truck" like clockwork when he arrived home every day...playing cricket out the back, barbeques and charred meat. All of him I miss, really! Hope he would be proud of everything we've achieved. I'm sure he'd be proud of how Mum has brought us up. xx
